Samantha Clay was born and raised in southern West Virginia. Her mother was a mountain, and her father was John Denver. After school, she drove out to Los Angeles to pursue acting with nothing but a dream and trunk full of shoes. When her plan to become immediately discovered was thwarted, she created her own opportunities by writing comedy sketches and casting herself. Boy, did that show them! In 2022, she was chosen for the Sundance Episodic Lab. She has written several pieces for the Disney ABC Discovers Talent Showcase each year since 2019; she was in the cast in the 2018 showcase. Her pilot The Growth has won the grand prize in two screenwriting contests: Roadmap Writers Jump Start Pilot Competition and Stage 32’s New Voices in Animation Screenwriting Contest. She looks forward to her next big adventure, as well as her next big quesadilla.
